Caribbean Identity
Georgetown University · Georgetown, Estados Unidos
A group exhibition at Georgetown University that explored Caribbean identity through contemporary visual art. Víctor Alexis Puig took part at a particularly significant moment in his career: the same year as his emblematic solo show Prueba de Vida in Havana, whose partial censorship would mark a turning point in his trajectory.
The exhibition placed Puig's work in dialogue with other Caribbean artists, underscoring how his fragmented bodies and his paradoxical chromaticism —saturated cadmiums that conceal dramas in black and white— articulate a psychological Cubanness, neither picture-postcard nor folkloric.
