Mirror of Everyday Life
Superior Institute of Medical Sciences · La Habana, Cuba
One of Víctor Alexis Puig's earliest solo exhibitions, presented at the Superior Institute of Medical Sciences in Havana in 2007. The title reflects the artist's commitment to representing everyday Cuban life, observed through an expressionist gaze that fragments bodies in order to reveal collective states of mind.
Held in the same year as Figuraciones at Galería Teodoro Ramos, this early show established the foundations of the visual language Puig would develop over the following two decades: a saturated cadmium palette, graphic black contours and figures pushed up against the picture plane.
