About this work
"Cazador de sueño" (2019) sustains the chromatic tension that defines Valpuig's work: cadmium red and chrome orange build the figure from the inside out, while the cobalt of the eyes operates as a calculated fracture within that dominant temperature. The red kerchief against a white ground is not a narrative accessory but a pictorial device: it concentrates the saturation and leaves the body —partially legible, never wholly resolved— at the threshold between presence and schema.
The figure belongs to that gallery of characters without a convincing biography that runs through the artist's corpus: beings whose intense chromatism functions, paradoxically, as a form of subtraction rather than revelation.
